Cormorants - Kill Them or Protect Them
Michigan fishers claim that a protected migratory bird, the Cormorant is depleting Great Lakes fisheries. There are too many of the birds, or so the fishing industry claims. Question - when are there too many people depleting our natural resources? Anyway, the poor Cormorant is about to become a victim of the hunting and fishing lobby in Michigan. Too bad for a cool bird.
The Opinion of an Elk Farmer
Tom Nevins runs an elk "farm" on the west side of Michigan. He wrote an op/ed piece for the Kalamazoo Gazette. Very interesting viewpoint on raising animals to be hunted. Nevins admits that the elk he ships to "hunting lodges" are domesticated. He seems to have taken a class in spin also - calls what he does farming - a noble profession.
