Eaton County Animal Shelter Task Force Issues Report - Meeting Tomorrow
Eaton County Animal Control Shelter was one of the first shelters to enter our Hall of Shame. The shelter sells animals to research and makes zero attempt to place animals in new homes. A task force investigated the shelter and is giving its recommendations to the Public Safety Committee of the Eaton County Commission tomorrow, September 25 at 3 p.m. Attend the meeting and speak up on behalf of animals.

Berrien County Animal Shelter - Does the Community Care
In Sunday's Herald Palladium the front page article covered the Berrien County Animal Shelter. In May, we placed the shelter in the Hall of Shame for a dismal adoption rate of only 11% and for gassing animals in a carbon monoxide chamber. Two organizations have taken up the issue and are trying to make positive changes, but meeting serious resistance. Humane Society of Southwest Michigan and Animal Aid are trying to get the shelter to place pets on the internet. Someone someday please explain why shelters that are so obviously failing hate the idea of finding homes for animals. I digress, the article announcing Berrien County's entry into the Hall of Shame can be read here: http://www.michanimalnews.com/Berrien_County_Shame.html
